A handsome 19th century French Louis-Philippe giltwood mirror of generous scale, measuring 30 inches wide by 49 inches high. The frame is defined by its signature rounded upper corners and squared base, accented with a delicate beaded inner border and warm water-gilded surface.

The gilding retains a beautifully aged patina, with traces of red bole peeking through in places and subtle wear consistent with its age—details that enhance its authenticity and charm. The mirror plate shows desirable light foxing, typical of early mercury glass, creating a softly diffused reflection.

Louis-Philippe mirrors were prized in 19th-century France for their balance of refined elegance and restraint, and remain among the most versatile antique mirrors—equally striking when leaned casually on a mantel, hung in a dining room, or paired in an entryway.
