A finely rendered 19th century Parianware sculpture, depicting a classical male figure in repose, inspired by the iconic Hellenistic marble known as The Dying Gaul. Cast in luminous white bisque porcelain, this neoclassical figure captures both the vulnerability and strength of its ancient prototype, with sensitively modeled musculature, delicately defined features, and draped textiles at the base.

Often produced by English and Continental porcelain manufacturers in the Victorian era, Parianware was prized for its ability to emulate carved marble in a domestic scale. This example, with its crisp surface and expressive detailing, makes a refined addition to any vignette or bookshelf display.
