A striking carved giltwood sunburst mirror from Spain, circa 1940. The circular mirror is framed by a radiating array of deeply carved, tapering rays, finished in a beautifully aged patinated gold and bronze wash with warm undertones of red bole showing through — a hallmark of traditional Spanish gilding techniques.
The mirror’s sculptural form captures both Baroque exuberance and mid-century Spanish modernism, making it equally at home above a mantel, in an entryway, or layered within a gallery wall of classical and contemporary works.
Excellent vintage condition with expected minor surface wear consistent with age.
