Large French Gilt Mirror
A richly detailed 19th century French giltwood mirror, generously scaled and adorned with deeply carved ornamentation throughout. Measuring 43.70 inches high by 33.46 inches wide, this substantial mirror features a beautifully aged water-gilt finish and classical scrollwork in high relief, framing the original mirror plate with elegant presence.
The frame’s intricate detailing—acanthus flourishes, cabochon motifs, and floral garlands—echoes the opulence of the Louis Philippe and Second Empire periods, offering a dramatic focal point above a mantel, console, or in a grand entryway. The warm patina and slight wear to the gilding are consistent with age and lend authenticity and charm to its historic character.
Versatile in application, it may be hung vertically or horizontally.
