A vibrant and boldly executed oil on board by German painter Peter Robert Keil (b. 1942), celebrated for his raw expressionist style and dynamic use of color. This striking portrait, with its graphic black lines and blocks of saturated green, red, yellow, and orange, captures Keil’s unique ability to merge spontaneity with structure.

Keil came of age in the thriving postwar art scenes of West Berlin, Paris, and Palma de Mallorca. As a young artist, he studied under Otto Nagel and became closely associated with leading figures of 20th-century modernism, including Pablo Picasso, whom he met in the early 1960s. Keil’s works often reflect the influence of Picasso’s Cubism and Matisse’s bold palette, while maintaining a distinctly raw, urban energy that earned him recognition across Europe and the United States.

This example is housed in a custom wood frame, tailored in minimalist black to heighten the impact of the bold composition.
