A rare and striking suite of twelve mid-century French lithographs executed in the lyrical, continuous-line style associated with Henri Matisse’s late graphic work. Produced in France circa 1950s, these refined floral and botanical studies reflect a period when French ateliers and literary circles frequently commissioned expressive line drawings for limited, art-focused portfolios.

Each composition is rendered with elegant restraint—fluid contours capturing blossoms, leaves, and organic forms with poetic clarity characteristic of mid-century French modernism.

As is typical for many mid-century French lithographic portfolios, these prints were not individually signed. They were issued as part of a unified artistic suite in which the focus was placed on the cohesion of the imagery and the refinement of production rather than on hand-signatures. This is entirely consistent with French publishing practices of the era.

Paper

The lithographs are printed on beautifully textured French woven paper with a subtle horizontal grain and softly pressed surface. This premium mid-century stock was prized for its ability to hold crisp, expressive linework while maintaining a tactile, handmade quality.

The warm ivory tone—softly mellowed with age—creates an elegant contrast with the sienna linework, while the paper’s delicate texture lends the drawings a quiet relief when viewed in angled light.

Framing

Each lithograph has been professionally framed to museum standards:

  • Museum glass for UV protection and exceptional clarity
  • Archival mounting
  • Belgian linen mat in a rich, tailored tone
  • Italian gilt bamboo frame, offering refined European structure and warmth

Displayed together, the set creates a striking architectural statement—balanced, sculptural, and quietly romantic. Offered only as a complete suite of twelve.
