A striking and richly glazed ceramic tile panel titled “L’Homme au Mouton” (The Man with the Lamb), created in Vallauris in 1977 and inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso. This figural composition, executed in vivid glazes of burnt orange, celadon, turquoise, and ochre, captures a stylized nude male figure holding a lamb in a composition that echoes the sculptural forms of Picasso’s 1943 “L’Homme au Mouton,” originally conceived during his years in the South of France.

Handmade by artisan J.C. Baudino and labeled on the reverse with its original Vallauris studio label, this tile stands as a beautiful example of the postwar ceramic tradition rooted in the Côte d’Azur. The expressive lines and abstracted detailing offer a sophisticated homage to Picasso’s influence in the region during the mid-20th century.

The tile is mounted on a Belgian linen matte and housed within a tiered gilt wood frame, creating a refined, gallery-quality presentation. Signed along the base of the tile.
