Description
A sculptural porcelain flower bowl by American ceramicist Julie LoRusso, distinguished by applied portrait medallions and classical loop handles. The low, gently flared form is balanced by a subtle footed base, lending the piece a quiet architectural presence.
Hand-built in LoRusso’s Virginia studio, the bowl is finished in luminous white porcelain, allowing the soft modeling of the portrait reliefs and the surface’s subtle throwing lines to remain visible. The classical medallion motif references antique cameos and neoclassical ornament, a recurring influence throughout the artist’s work shaped by her years living in London and her engagement with European decorative arts.
The bowl includes a fitted porcelain flower frog insert, making it both functional and sculptural—ideal for arranging individual stems while remaining visually compelling when displayed on its own.
Condition
Excellent condition. Contemporary hand-crafted work with inherent studio variations.
