Architectural Wood Dome Model

A striking vintage architectural model by Authentic Models, finely constructed in wood and inspired by the grand domed architecture of the European classical tradition.

The model presents an elaborate domed pavilion composed of a rhythmic colonnade supporting a series of classical arches, surmounted by an openwork architectural dome. A particularly compelling detail is the pair of sweeping staircases rising through the center of the structure, giving the piece remarkable depth and sculptural presence from every angle.

Authentic Models became particularly known for producing sophisticated decorative objects inspired by historic architectural models, scientific instruments, navigational objects, and the traditions of the European Grand Tour. This example recalls the architectural maquettes and presentation models historically produced by architects and craftsmen to explore proportion, geometry, and construction.

Executed in richly toned wood with contrasting dark architectural elements, the model has a wonderfully graphic quality. The open dome reveals the complexity of its construction, while the repeated columns, arches, staircases and stepped base create an almost theatrical sense of perspective.
