Description
A refined porcelain cachepot by American ceramicist Julie LoRusso, drawing inspiration from classical antiquity and neoclassical decorative arts. The cylindrical vessel is adorned with an applied Aphrodite head in low relief, a timeless motif associated with beauty, mythology, and classical sculpture.
Hand-built in LoRusso’s Virginia studio, the cachepot is finished in luminous white porcelain, allowing the sculptural detail of the Aphrodite medallion to stand out subtly against the softly thrown body. A delicately beaded rim crowns the form, lending architectural definition and reinforcing its classical reference.
Both sculptural and functional, the cachepot is well suited for display on its own or planted with a small topiary or trailing greenery. A restrained and elegant example of contemporary studio pottery grounded in historical precedent.
