Description
A sculptural porcelain urn by American ceramicist Julie LoRusso, drawing from the language of neoclassical European decorative arts. The vessel features a gently flared bowl form raised on a turned pedestal foot, with applied garland swags suspended along the rim.
Hand-built in LoRusso’s Virginia studio, the urn is finished in luminous white porcelain, allowing the subtle throwing lines and applied relief decoration to remain visible. The garland motif—also known as a festoon—recalls classical architectural ornament and 18th-century European ceramic and stonework traditions.
Balanced and restrained in form, the piece functions equally well as a sculptural object or as a vessel for florals. A refined example of contemporary studio pottery rooted in classical precedent.
Condition
Excellent condition. Contemporary hand-crafted work with inherent studio variations.
