Modernist Female Nude Lithograph - 20th Century

A beautifully restrained vintage lithograph depicting a seated female nude, rendered in an elegant, minimalist line drawing evocative of the great European modernist tradition.

The composition captures the female figure in a relaxed, sculptural pose, her arms gracefully raised above her head and her body articulated through a series of delicate, uninterrupted contours. The artist’s confident economy of line gives the work a remarkable sense of fluidity, allowing the natural curves of the human form to emerge with very little embellishment.

Executed in fine, graphite-toned lines against a softly aged ivory ground, the work embodies the understated sophistication of 20th-century figurative abstraction. Its simplified forms and expressive use of negative space recall the artistic language of Henri Matisse and other influential figures of European modernism.

The work bears a handwritten signature in the lower right, with the surname appearing to read Rodriguez. The artist’s full identity has not been established.

Presented beneath glass with a generous black mat and housed in a handsome black wood frame accented by fine gilt detailing. The architectural quality of the framing provides a striking contrast to the delicacy of the composition.

An exceptionally versatile work, equally suited to a contemporary interior or a more traditional, thoughtfully collected space. Its restrained palette, expressive linework, and intimate subject matter lend it an enduring appeal.
