Neoclassical Brass and Chrome Bar Cart in the Manner of Maison Jansen 1970
A refined vintage brass and glass bar cart or side table executed in the neoclassical tradition, featuring elegant fluted column supports and two inset glass shelves. The proportions are beautifully balanced, with a rectangular brass frame supported by slender columnar legs capped with decorative fluted capitals — a design detail strongly associated with French neoclassical decorative arts.
The cart rests on small casters, allowing it to function easily as a serving trolley, bar cart, or occasional table. The combination of warm brass tones and clear glass surfaces creates a light architectural presence that integrates seamlessly into both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Pieces of this form became especially popular in the mid-20th century through influential Parisian design houses, most notably the celebrated decorating firm Maison Jansen, whose work frequently incorporated classical column motifs, gilt metal frames, and glass surfaces. While unmarked, the design and detailing are very much in keeping with examples produced in the manner of Maison Jansen and other French neoclassical revival makers of the period.
Versatile and sophisticated, the piece functions equally well as a drinks trolley, side table, or display surface for decorative objects.
