Canopy in Ochre — Contemporary Abstract Botanical Painting

Working directly on unprimed canvas, Ruffner embraces the inherent unpredictability of her surface. The pigment absorbs immediately into the fibre, softening edges and deepening tone. Ruffner, formally trained in graphic design at OCAD University with a foundation in fine arts, balances compositional clarity with intuitive movement. After nearly a decade of developing her visual language through commissions and collaborations with Housebound Interiors, she has expanded into an independent body of work that foregrounds materiality and process.
