Christian Dior Casablanca Leopard & Palm Porcelain Vase
A striking vintage porcelain vase from Christian Dior’s celebrated Casablanca collection, crafted in Japan and distinguished by its graphic, jewel-like decoration inspired by North African and Egyptian motifs.
The tall cylindrical form is rendered in luminous white fine china and encircled with a wonderfully stylized landscape of golden spotted leopards beneath emerald-green palm trees. Bands of black, oxblood red, green and gilt geometric ornament frame the composition, while generous 22-karat-style gilt borders at the rim and base lend the piece an especially luxurious finish.
The design has the unmistakable glamour associated with Dior decorative objects of the late 20th century—combining classical references with a bold, almost Art Deco graphic quality. Its restrained cylindrical silhouette allows the elaborate decoration to take precedence, making it particularly effective displayed on a console, mantel or cocktail table.
Equally compelling used as a vase, cachepot or simply as a sculptural decorative object, the piece pairs beautifully with both traditional antiques and more contemporary interiors.
Marked to the underside “Christian Dior Fine China / Casablanca” and retaining its “Made in Japan / Fabriqué au Japon” label.
