Faux Marble Plinth
A striking vintage pedestal column dating to the 1970s, finished in a richly decorative faux malachite treatment. Tall and architectural in scale, the piece takes inspiration from classical stone columns while embracing the glamorous decorative finishes associated with late 20th-century European interiors.
The cylindrical shaft is hand-finished in layered shades of emerald, forest green and near-black, creating the dramatic veining and tonal variation associated with natural malachite. A molded circular collar transitions into a substantial faceted base, giving the pedestal a strong architectural presence.
Designed as a display plinth, it provides an elegant platform for sculpture, busts, ceramics, floral arrangements or other decorative objects. Its saturated green finish makes it particularly effective as a sculptural accent within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
The surface retains visible age and wear, including losses and chipping to the decorative finish, particularly around the upper edge and base. We consider this patina part of the piece’s vintage character and have left it unrestored.
