Hand-Painted Blue & White Porcelain Cachepot
A beautifully decorative hand-painted porcelain cachepot, richly ornamented in a timeless blue and white palette. The vessel features an expressive continuous scene of flowering branches and stylized exotic birds, framed by scrolling borders at the neck and a geometric band encircling the foot.
The decoration has a wonderfully painterly quality, with visible variations in tone and brushwork lending the piece the character of traditional hand-decorated ceramics. Deep indigo and softer washes of blue contrast elegantly against the crisp white porcelain ground.
Of generous proportions, the cachepot has a substantial cylindrical form with a gently flared rim and moulded foot. Particularly striking as a planter for an orchid or topiary, though equally beautiful displayed empty as a sculptural decorative object.
The combination of botanical imagery, fanciful birds and classical blue-and-white decoration gives the piece a sophisticated, collected quality that works beautifully within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
