Description
A sculptural porcelain urn by American ceramicist Julie LoRusso, informed by classical European forms and ornament. The vessel features a gently flared rim, raised on a turned pedestal foot, and is articulated with applied loop handles. Molded relief medallions and vertical foliate motifs adorn the body, lending depth and architectural interest.
Hand-built in LoRusso’s Virginia studio, the urn is finished in luminous white porcelain, emphasizing the crisp modeling of its relief decoration. The form reflects the artist’s longstanding engagement with historic ceramics, shaped by her years living in London and her study of European decorative arts encountered throughout England and the Netherlands.
Both functional and sculptural, the piece stands confidently as a decorative object and may also be styled as a vessel for florals or display. A refined example of contemporary studio pottery grounded in neoclassical tradition.
